Atomic Johnson

Albany’s Atomic Johnson is a five-piece high-energy rock band looking to bring their exciting performance to your venue or private event.

Their entertaining live show includes songs from such artists as Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty, The Clash and Stone Temple Pilots.

Atomic Johnson has made appearances throughout the Capital Region since 2004. During this time, their faithful fan base has grown consistently.

Jim Regan

Jim Regan is a guitarist and one of the founding members of Albany's current party band of choice, Atomic Johnson. You may also remember him from the 80's rock sensation No Vacancy.

Influenced by legends such as Leslie West, Gary Rossington and Allen Collins, Regan bought his first guitar at the age of fourteen and has not looked back. He swears by Gibson guitars. And Fenders too. Oh yeah, he also has a thing for old Dean guitars. And don't forget Peavey. Please help him support his guitar addiction by coming to Atomic Johnson shows.

Regan has recently released his first solo CD, Ten Stories Down (available at iTunes or CD Baby) and will soon start working on the followup.

Adam Rieder

Part of the 90’s skateboarding subculture and a native of the Chicago punk-rock and hip-hop scene, my musical endeavors range from Thrash, Punk and Hip-Hop to Classical and even Christian Rock.

Since the age of 7 when I was hauling a snare drum case that was heavier than I could carry, I’ve studied percussion, guitar, and piano, but I swear to you I never believed I would be able to stand and deliver in front of an audience with a microphone in my hand. Now that I have, I can hardly believe I went so long without doing so.

Being part of “Atomic Johnson” has been a wild ride. I’ve been able to connect with amazing people, I would never have been able to otherwise. Standing over the edge of a stage and interacting with you – the audience – is where I live. I tell you there is nothing in the world like hearing and feeling everyone scream over the loudness.

Dave Stimpson

Dave Stimpson (a.k.a Stimpy) grew up playing guitar just 50 miles north of Albany in the Glens Falls area starting at the ripe age of 15.

Stimpy started his guitar playing with a Hohner Les Paul copy and a small Peavey amp. This was back in the early 80's so he was playing to the tunes of Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, and Van Halen to name a few. It was the beginning of the hair band genre and by the mid 80's, Stimpy was playing in a band with his high school buddies. His first exposure to playing live was playing at a local school's Marathon dance and has been all up hill since.

Being an 80's hair band metal head, Stimpy's influences are Randy Rhoads and Zakk Wylde of Ozzy fame, George Lynch from Dokken, and of course Eddie Van Halen.

Stimpy is now one of the two guitar forces behind Atomic Johnson and at any live show, you will hear Stimpy throw in remnants from the 80's era.

Don Klime

My name is Don, and I play bass for Atomic Johnson.

I am a native of the Capital Region. I started playing bass in 1988. My musical influences come from rock, metal, jazz, and others. I am not sure who my playing style approximates, maybe Sid Vicious or Lemmy. But it's all fun. I am currently listening to Super 400, Lamb of God, and Jay-Z. My first bass was a Cort. My first amp was a Fender Champ. My current bass is cool, and I use it with an amp to make it loud.

Through the years I have played in various original and cover bands. Genres have included hardcore, rock, hip-hop, Irish, and folk-blues bands. You probably haven't heard of any of those bands, so I won't mention them. If you really care, email me on my myspace and I can tell you all about it.

I now deliver the 'rock' to you with Atomic Johnson. Come and hang out with us.

Like most American drummers my age, I spent my beginner years (about 1980) banging away at ZZ Top, Cream, Deep Purple, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, and Rush. I always had a love for masterful time keepers; these are just a few of them. As my condition became more severe, an era dominated by metal surfaced. I believe this changed me. Metal absorbed me. I could make music and break shit. This would prove to be all that mattered for some time.

The early years set a standard. With a ton of classic rock and metal experience, I branched off into other types of music including; Blues, Funk, R&B, and even dabbled with rap beats. Here I found a satisfaction that did not necessarily consist of flash or power. I was getting my rocks off playing, at times, music I didn’t even think I liked! Who knew?

In the fall of ’04, I jumped on with Atomic Johnson. Our plan was to focus on 90’s alternative. I thought “cool, I haven’t done that. This should be a piece of cake”. Bullshit! After a decade of hearing most of this music, I assumed I knew it. Once I tackled the Chili Peppers, Eve 6, The Foo Fighters, Blink 182, and Jane’s Addiction (the list goes on), I realized I had my work cut out for me. With persistence and conviction, I hashed it out. Atomic Johnson has been a wonderful new journey through the world of music. Thanks to the players that made it possible. And thank those of you, friends and family who have supported.
